How to Make Delicious Badam Milk at Home?
This Indian milk drink is flavoured with saffron, cardamom, and almonds. It was traditionally prepared by blending and soaking almonds, then adding the ground mixture to boiled cow`s milk.
Badam milk is a must-try if you`ve ever struggled with a picky family that won`t drink milk. Everyone will love this badam milk recipe since it is high in protein, has no additives, and is so tasty, flavorful, and refreshing.
List of Ingredients
- ¼ cup Almonds
- 2 cups Milk
- Pinch of Saffron
- 4-5 Cardamom pods
- Sugar as per taste
- Rose petals (optional)
Steps to Prepare Badam Milk
1. Wash ¼ cup of almonds thoroughly.
2. In a bowl, add some hot boiling water with the almonds. Set aside for 30 to 40 minutes with a lid on.
Tip: Soak the almonds in water overnight if you're making this drink to cool you off in the summer.
3. After 30 minutes, drain the water from the bowl.
4. Peel the almonds. The skin will readily come out with a simple press.
5. In a blender or grinder, add the peeled almonds.
6. Now add the cardamom pods, some sugar, and a pinch of saffron to the grinder.
7. Add ¼ cup of milk. Room temperature milk would be best.
8. Grind until mixture is smooth and fine. Almonds should be finely or super finely processed. It might ruin the taste if there are chunks of almonds.
9. Now fill the blender or grinder jar with the milk left unused. Shake and stir the grinder jar to ensure that milk is mixed with the almond paste, sticking to the sides and bottom of the jar to ensure that nothing is wasted.
10. Pour this milk into a deep-bottom pan and heat it on a low flame.
11. To prevent the milk from sticking to the bottom, stir occasionally.
12. There is no need to vigorously boil the milk; you only need to heat it. A mild boil is what’s needed. When the milk starts to heat up, turn off the heat.
13. You can add rose petals or rose water to enhance the taste of badam milk.
14. Garnish with a few strands of saffron and roughly chopped almond pieces.
15. Serve this badam milk warm. It can also be cooled before being served as per the taste.
